When starting to reconnect with perennial plants, the act itself can be intimidating and overwhelming, especially in the city. I remember feeling so inspired when reading foraging guides, and yet when I stepped out of my Chigago apartment, I wasn't sure where to begin. Where are these plants and is it safe and legal to harvest?
 
Here is chart to help you decipher where the best places to reconnect with Chicago perennial plants and to set expecations of where and what you may potentially be harvesting. Every city has different regulations around harvesting, so please keep up to date. For areas that are unsafe (due to soil contamination) or prohibited (such as within the Chicago Forest Preserves currently) I labeled "Reconnect to Nature." Building relationships with these plants are just as meaningful and insightful.
